Dear Mr. Adams,

As you know, I am currently involved in the “Spying Lincoln Operation” and in the last weeks I have been undergoing my mission of infiltrating Lincoln’s government, a situation that has led me to some information.

The first thing you need to know is that the Northern government might be planning a massive attack on us. In case this information is real and they have such a huge army, they will probably beat us in the battlefield, which could mean the end of slavery in the country.

I think you should start the preparation of an army that could fight them back, but I have to tell you that I will not be able to keep giving  you information, because in these last days Lincoln´s men are having a strange attitude towards me, something that might be a signal which says that I have been discovered.

I hope you can make me return soon.

Yours sincerely,

John Solivers

Dear Mr.Hanratty,

I am writing concerning an issue of much importance to us all, that if unattended could result in unfortunate casualties. For this I would be extremely grateful if you took note of absolutely everything that I am referring to in this letter.

During my time in the North I have discovered that presidential candidate Abraham Lincoln is currently planning to abolish slavery completely throughout the states. This, as you may understand, is by no means beneficial towards our alliance and therefore, must be avoided at all costs.

Regarding the issue at hand, I strongly recommend that you create a Confederation of Southern States to ensure the prosperity of slavery and the security of our fair system. Be warned that war may be upon us since I do not see any other alternative if Lincoln is to win the elections and execute his plan.

Yours faithfully,

Gabriel McAlphonse

P.S: I would also like to be transferred back to Florida, since I suspect that I am raising suspicion in my field of research.

FakeNews: Crew finds legendary Lilliput in Southern Atlantic Ocean

Illustration from Gulliver’s Travels (Jonathan Swift, 1726). Gulliver tied to the ground by the Lilliputians.

NEW YORK – Last October 25, a group of fishermen were searching for a bank of tunas in the Southern Atlantic Ocean when one of them saw a small island. The fishermen felt curiosity and approached the island, where they found people 30cm tall.

Upon seeing them, these small people ran into their little houses, because they were afraid of regular humans. This place seems to be Lilliput, the famous island from the book Gulliver`s Travels (Jonathan Swift, 1726).

The government of the United States said that these small inhabitants will be taken to a better place and will be treated with equality and dignity by ‘common-size’ humans. “Now we are working in a small city where the Lilliputians will live in peace and harmony”, said Donald Trump, president of the United States.

FakeNews: German living Crusoe’s life on Alcatraz arrested

robinson rescued.jpg

Illustration of Robinson Crusoe (Daniel Defoe, 1719) rescued after 28 years.

SAN FRANCISCO- German man found living alone in Alcatraz last October to escape from local authorities, now locked up in Fox River penitentiary.

A German criminal by the name of Johann Müller was found in an abandoned local penitentiary in San Francisco living alone. Police found him by searching on “Google maps” and found someone using the abandoned prison. After his arrest young 22-year-old Johann was sent to prison for a series of murders.

Captain John Eswin, the police officer that caught him said: “I found it ironic that Johann was living in a prison in order to avoid conviction, as he was practically in the same situation.” Apparently he had been a castaway for two years and informed Google to update “Google Maps”.

His reasons are still unknown, but it’s suspected he was on a food shortage and that the crops he was planting were no longer growing due to the low temperature of water near the island. People all over the internet are calling young Johann “Crusoe’s debt” due to his arrest and his recently demolished lifestyle.

FakeNews: President Trump Survives

Trump survives an unexpected attack while he was heading for the White House

November 23, 2016

WASHINGTON D.C.- Yesterday morning an unexpected event took place in DC. When President Trump was on his way to the White House, an unknown group of seven men shot at his car but in the end the terrorists were reduced by secret service agents.

“I swear in the name of God that this act of unjustified terrorism will not accomplish the objective of changing my ideas and thoughts. America will be great again and I´m looking forward to seeing it happen” , explained Trump in the evening meeting held at the Congress.

Some people said that the authors of the crime might be Mexican immigrants, a belief that could make sense if we think of the speech in which Trump said that he would build a wall and make the Mexicans pay for it.

SONNET 1 (Winner of King Kong Awards 2016 – Category: 3rd Secondary)

As I wake up through dirt and dust,
Throughout the trees light passes,
Although the wind, the death and gust
Can blind the way to the landmasses.

Throughout lights, masks and mirrors,
Deceiving thoughts that taught us death:
Reflections of us in the past mirrors
Still somehow mantain their breath.

And even though forward we look
In the past days, we searched for the future,
But now our life is stocked in books
And ages to complete our torture.

As now we see the past is ours,
The future is to come in the newborn hours.

The Timeless Sunset

Sunset (Caspar D. Friedrich, 1830-1835)

I was unable to explain
What it means to have a friend,
To share life’s joys and life’s pain
Hoping it does never end.

In the place where water meets the sky
It feels like time is passing by,
In joyful times and even when we cry:
I will love you till the day I die.

You were the one I wanted most to stay,
But as the hours go by, I still fear,
Though I know you will never walk away
We won’t ever linger here.

The sun goes down, and time does end,
But I still want you to be my friend.

The Sun Goes Down

The Fighting Temeraire tugged to her last berth to be broken up (William Turner, 1839)

The sun goes down
And it’s time to take off the crown.
An eternity ends
And there are no friends.
It’s the time to supplant,
Just as is removed an implant.
Glory days have passed,
Just as it was asked.
The sun sets
Sun sets

The Open Window

La ventana abierta (Juan Gris, 1921)

By the window, the young writes for the old.
An odd replacement, but odder is something else,
In that house there is no love for new to be told,
Even the same scent still lavishes here, nowhere else.

The house didn’t fall, or rot or change,
Nor did the walls change of colour to grey and black,
The cypress still lies within the same range,
Here, there doesn’t seem to be any kind of lack.

Lack of love, lack of hate or of feeling in any way,
I do wonder if the old man knew this would come,
I do wonder if he knew nothing would change through days.
From days to years to come, now I know it’s done.

Still, I wonder on one thing though,
Will my fate be the same when I go?

The Dame of Milan

Lady with an Ermine (Leonardo Da Vinci, 1489-90)

In the middle of the darkness
A lightly face appeared:
It was the Dame of Milan,
So firm as she ever seems.

She had a little ermine:
A soft animal that shows courage.
She put on a real dress
But it was green not orange.

Leonardo was the artist,
The dame was his muse:
And they altogether
Made a square very obtuse.

When I see that painting
I admire the precision
With which Da Vinci shaped this square:
That was born from a good decision.

Acrostic Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s “Chandos” portrait, National Portrait Gallery (London)

Simple words written in simple papers
Having a meaning for someone,
Asking for his love to a man,
Kissing his lips with words,
Every day thinking about them.
Silver heart beating for him,
Putting his heart in a closed fist.
Easy for the rest, difficult for him,
Acting without sense,
Riding a white horse which symbolizes their love,
Ending an impossible love.

Shadows in the dark night,
Her lights are in vain,
A morning comes with a new light:
Knife in your heart as a dark pain.
Every word sounds as a redouble,
So all the verses have a prey
Painting the future as a new trouble:
Evil tells literature to go away.
Angels as a novel written in the hall,
Rhyming words like spirits in love,
Enjoying Shakespeare´s literature as a devil enjoys hell.

His same old passion, creating
Awesome sonnets which stole the hearts of everyone.

So far from variation and quick change,
Hell and angels he writes about.
Always writing about love and mortality,
King of English Modern poetry.
Everyday writing of both his loves,
Spending his life to create new worlds.
Poor poet who has no inspiration.
Exactly 154 sonnets he wrote.
All his love spent on those papers and verses.
Read his poems and you’ll understand why.
Excellent poems he left for us.

Jordi G., 3rd Secondary

So dreadful he writes,
His hand full of ink and pain:
An author of poems, plays, that’s right.
Knows he the end will be pain.
Everlasting love for two,
Shaking to love them both,
Perfecting his loss for the two,
Ending with an utter and cough.
At last comes his true love,
Real love only comes from above,
Ending in April, comes death, goes love.

Soul´s immortal,
Hiding many mysteries,
Ambiguous vocabulary,
Kindness and pain on a paper.
Expressive plays,
Sun of the bright sky of literature,
Poet out of nowhere,
Example for many others.
Again he might be a
Romantic and passionate lover.
Each of his 154 sonnets, admirable.

Shall I compare those poets with this God of Rhyme?
Hell is his home and love his devil.
All the heartbeats he produces when writing make the poem rhyme.
Killing our mind with all the themes he wrote with evil:
Eternity is one, ‘cause he knew about time.
Shakespeare was a prodigious man
Putting all words he knew to talk about love and time.
Even if the queen wanted or not, Shakespeare wrote plays
About all his feeelings in life, ‘cause he wanted to
Re-seduce a strange person, W.H., who we will not know about,
Explaining his love in 154 sonnets with no doubt.
