This movie is fine if you want to have a good time with friends or with family, the plot is easy to follow and the jokes and puns in the characters’ dialogs are witty and add to their personalities.

The Phantom of the Opera is a gothic novel set in the Opera of Paris in the 19th century. As a film, it has had many adaptations, the last one in 2004 directed by Joel Schumacher. It has won many awards such as National Board of Review (Usa 2004) and British Society of Cinematographers (2005).

This film tells us the story about a famous singer that sings in the Opera of Paris. The Phantom falls in love and kidnaps her, taking her to the opera’s cellars.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame has lot of adaptations but we are going to focus on the drama film of 1956, directed by Jean Delannoy and performed by Gina Lollobrigida, Anthony Quinn and Jean Danet. It is set in the cathedral of Notre Dame (Paris) in 1482. The film shows every part of the cathedral, which is a referent of French medieval architecture.

The film is a timeless tale about the seductive gypsy Esmeralda and the tortured Hunchback Quasimodo. The film received an award for the best actress.

In 1998 Randall Wallace directed a film with Leonardo Dicaprio, Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Gerard Depardieu about the King Louis XVI of France and his mysterious twin brother imprisoned with an iron mask, who is eventually helped by the Three Musketeers.

This historical fiction movie is set in the 17th century in the Palace of Versailles, the center of political power and official residence of the French monarchy since Louis XIV.
